Through the combination of expanded choreography and street performance mixed with techniques of field recording and film sound design, the artists explore the generation of narratives by sound dislocation procedures.
Participants will enter a sensitive walk with-in the KVS surroundings observing micro-events in public space.
This work is part of a larger research by the Brussels-based artist Diego Echegoyen and it emerges as a creative dialogue with the Buenos Aires-based composer Ezequiel Menalled.
The audience will attend the work in progress version of this sound walk performance and will have the chance to talk with the artists afterwards.
Diego Echegoyen (Buenos Aires) is a performing artist, based in Brussels, who works, researches and activates in projects merging theater, expanded choreography, field recording, site-specific and street performance. His practice merges artistic languages in a collective and collaborative performance making. For his latest project, What shines through two different things he developed practices of situated writing and performance composition interweaving historical and personal events, micro and macro scales of real and fictive landscapes in a storytelling enriched by choreographic scores.
He graduated at the Institut Superieur des Arts et Choreographies at the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles in plastic, visual and space arts in Urban Space and holds a post-master degree in performance and scenography of APASS within the Posthogeschool voor Podiumkunsten.
In 2010 he co-founded the Argentine EL CUARTO Theater Company where he worked as an actor, dancer, performer and actors’ coach ever since. He is co-founder of the argentine artistic activist collective Escena Política, with whom has worked since 2013 in the crossroad of performance and activism.
Ezequiel Menalled (Buenos Aires) is a versatile composer and conductor. In 2003 he founded the Dutch ensemble Modelo62 and has been its musical and artistic director ever since. He received his bachelor and master composition degree at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, where later he taught from 2008 until 2016. His music is performed around the world by various ensembles and soloists. He specializes in works that are conventionally notated, ranging from soloist to large ensemble, and purely acoustic or combined with electronics. In the last years he experimented with different systems of notation that combined the traditional system with an active improvisatory decision-making from the player’s side. Additionally, his music expanded into a transdisciplinary frame with other art forms such as photography, theatre, performance, dance and opera.
