MINDBLOWERS 2018: ODE TO THE IMAGINATION

For the second year in a row, KVS and VUB unite forces to kick off the academic and cultural year. At MINDBLOWERS, don’t expect any puffed-up speeches or highfalutin lectures. No: short, powerful interventions at the crossroads of arts, culture, research and reflection. At the intersection of activism, ‘artivism’ and academia.

ODE TO THE IMAGINATION
This second edition of MINDBLOWERS will be an ode to the imagination. Academics and artists both work from a place of curiosity, wonder, freedom, creativity and critical thinking. Only by imagining and envisioning the impossible can arts and science create new horizons.

What to expect? Mind-blowing insights and performances by professor Mireille Hildebrandt, choreographer Moya Michael, musician and singer Ana Naqe, cultural philosopher and educator Pieter Meurs, invisibility engineer Vincent Ginis, theatre creators Pieter and Johannes Genard, storyteller Pitcho Womba Konga, independent researchers Emilie Grégoire and Jad Zeitouni, filmmaker Ellen Vermeulen and architect Niels De Temmerman. Afterwards you can clear your head again at the afterparty with open bar and silent disco.

Experience all of this and so much more on 8 October. From 6pm we start blowing away the cobwebs of summer to kick off the academic and cultural year with a clear and sharp brain.
