At once both intimate and political, Soliloquio questions the place of indigenous bodies and, more broadly, of invisibilised cultures in a world governed by the model of the coloniser.

Soliloquio is the second part of an autobiographical trilogy by Tiziano Cruz, a scream of rage which originated with a tragic event: in 2015, his sister died at age 18 due to medical negligence. Now aware of the discrimination faced by indigenous people within the Argentine power system, the artist set out to examine the place of their bodies in a world where colonialism and supremacism are perpetuated by a neoliberal system. Tiziano Cruz’s performances are visual experiences at the crossroads between the political and the intimate. Soliloquio—a minimalist solo stage production—is based on the 58 letters he wrote to his mother during the Covid lockdown.

Blending political and personal themes, the piece takes place between public and private spaces, involving different indigenous, Latinx or different diasporas living in the territories where Tiziano carries out his Soliloquy. In Brussels, they collaborate with Sans Frontières: la segunda generación. This is an Ecuadorian folklore dance group proud to represent Ecuadorian culture in Belgium. Their main goal is to continue the traditions passed down by their parents and to remain connected to their roots.
