Guardianes del corazón de la tierra maps out the journey of a member of a community in the Brazilian Amazon region who returns to his roots: the Huni Kuin (‘the authentic people’). From Hamburg, the company travels to the Jordão region, deep in the Brazilian rainforest. On their journey, they observe the world of the Amazonian Forest, which is buckling under the relentless pressures of the unbounded exploitation of natural resources. This documentary work confronts us with the age-old ideas of Amazonian cultures: how they see the relationship between humans and earth completely differently from us in the West.

On stage, music, traditional philosophical storytelling, and contemporary dance alternate, with the documentary as the backdrop. City and jungle in constant contrast: strife and balance.

With Imperio, La Conquesta del Pol Sud continues the investigation into greed and capitalism it started in Guardianes del corazón de la tierra. Where can we still find accounts of people who live outside of the demands of the market and of consumption? Which places and cultures resist the call of global capitalism?

In a fresco of ideas, Buddhism is contrasted with economic hyperdevelopment and the current ecological crisis. As usual, the company interweaves individual experiences with journalistic research, to link the personal to the global and collective philosophy.

Imperio is a whirlwind of imagery, word, movement and objects that holds the middle ground between documentary and staged poetry. Be transported on a journey through the ideas of cultures that are far removed from ours.
