“What is free? What is form and what is a free form? Does it even exist, and does something like shapelessness exists in nature, in life, in art?”

For this new creation, Marc Vanrunxt joins forces with dancer Samantha van Wissen (Rosas, Thomas Hauert) for a dance performance about different generations of dancers, dance identities, and energy. Also on stage are dancer/choreographer Igor Shyshko (Malus, PUNKT) and mezzosoprano Els Mondelaers, who tackles compositions by Morton Feldman, songs by Yoko Ono, and a tearjerker or two. A wondrous gem for Vanrunxt connoisseurs. Not to be missed, as far as we’re concerned.

“In 'Freie Form', the choreographer ushers in a play of minute shifts in recurring movement phrases and trajectories on stage. A fragile fabric of echoes and memory emerges throughout the performance - subtle resonances between what happened before and what remains. Vanrunxt also likes to work with that kind of echo from one choreography to the next: he often reuses costumes and objects from previous work to give them a new dynamic in a new context.”
