A musical spectacle with Think of One, Laïla Amezian, B'net Chaabi and Kabareh Cheikhats.

Immerse yourself in the ancient music form of the chaabi during the unique Habibi Connection concert. Let yourself be carried away by the enchanting rhythms and melodies, in which stirring energy and poetic intensity merge. The concert is a collaboration between vzw HalfmOon, KVS, Muziekpublique, Darna, the AB and Cinemamed to celebrate 60 years of Moroccan immigration, and is the perfect festive finale to the Chaabi Habibi Festival.

The Chaabi Habibi Festival is a musical project launched in 2019 by multi-talented artist Laïla Amezian's non-profit organization HalfmOon.  The festival is entirely dedicated to the musical heritage of chaabi and its practice by women of the Moroccan diaspora in Belgium. Chaabi literally means “popular” and is an urban version of traditional Moroccan folk songs, performed at folk festivals and dedicated to dance. Chaabi Habibi is also a tribute to the Ghanayats and Shikhats, women musicians who have spoken out for freedom with vigor and conviction.

The Habibi Connection symbolizes the indestructible bond that links all lovers of this art form, in which love is central.

The Chaabi Habibi Festival runs from 24/11 till 5/12 and includes activities and events at various venues: a film portrait of various women artists, an international symposium and music conference, film screenings, musical creations and a participatory art project, workshops, etc.
