NOSHEHEORIT is a dance performance by the Indonesian choreographer Otniel Tasman that investigates the struggle and eventually the fusion of the masculine and the feminine in the human body. Inspired by Dariah, a male Lengger dancer from Banyumas, Central Java, Tasman represents the personal journey this dancer goes through from the phase where the two mainstream personalities – masculine and feminine – are in conflict in his body to the point where he chooses to blend them together in his performance.
In his work, choreographer Otniel Tasman stages the process in three steps. The first is the sensuality and visualisation of masculinity; the second the representation of female exoticism. The third, then, represents the fusion of masculine and feminine personality as gestures and aesthetic experiences blend into one whole.
