The dance theatre performance FrontX unites a number of international street artists with exceptional resilience and fascinating stories. Take Slowmotion Phax, a Swede born in Madagascar who was part of the legendary first generation of hip hop artists in France in the seventies. Or the Iranian-Australian Roya The Destroya, a breakdancer with one leg and many stories. Hello Shelly from Kosovo uses pole dancing and kick boxing to question the status of women in society. Two- time Belgian beatbox champion Big Ben, B-boy Micael Anigbe, and soul, funk and R&B-soprano Aurélie Castin complete the cast.
As spokespersons for contemporary society, these performers embody the true meaning of integration: “to make whole”, to take part in the construction of a whole.
KVS presents the world premiere of FrontX in the context of the Brussels Detours Festival (12-22 September at various locations throughout the city), dedicated to the urban arts and hip hop. The creator of FrontX is also the organiser of Detours: Milan Emmanuel, known for many international breakdance, hip hop and urban arts productions.
