Day of Dance

Day of Dance is a celebration of dance all over Flanders and Brussels. On 29 April 2017, Day of Dance invites the general public to get a taste of dance (contemporary and other). The Peeping Tom company from Brussels will be taking over the Tropicana café for an afternoon and evening. At this unusual venue next to the KVS the visitor can watch the trilogy Le Jardin (2002), Le Salon (2004) and Le Sous Sol (2007) once again on several video screens.

The Day of Dance in Flanders and Brussels takes place on the Saturday before International Dance Day on April 29th. In 2017 the two dates coincide and so the Day of Dance will be held on Saturday April 29th 2017. Dance companies, cultural centres, arts centres, theatres, cinemas and workplaces all over Flanders and Brussels are putting together a dance programme for that day. It aims to open the eyes of the general public to the exciting and innovative dance scene in Flanders and Brussels. Choreographers and dancers from our region win high praise and appreciation abroad. Indeed, Brussels in particular, and by extension Flanders, has become a veritable hub of international dance. But here at home its spread and visibility leaves something to be desired. The Day of Dance is an invitation to the public at large to become better acquainted with the world of contemporary dance in a bid to make this art form better known and loved.
